Oración o bendición judía recitada sobre una copa de vino que preludia la comida en la víspera del sabbat o una festividad importante, en la que se reconoce la santidad del día que está comenzando.

Generalmente es pronunciada por el jefe de familia, pero puede implicar a todos sus miembros. Después de la recitación, cada persona bebe vino de la copa. En la tradición asquenazí, dos hogazas de pan en la mesa significan el maná recogido por los israelitas durante sus años de errancia en el desierto.
